My first bump in the road

OK...so my first weigh in was not what I expected. I lost .6 pounds. I mean come on...you can pee .6 pounds. My goal is to loose 8 pounds in one month, so really I should be aiming for 2 lbs a week. I am not sure how I am going to be able to make up for this "not so hot" week. In the past I might have given up or changed my goal but this girl is a fighter. This year bathing suit season will not take me by surprise, I will be ready for it and it's tiny outfits.

My regained enthusiasm does not change the fact that I was pretty pissed off after I weighed in but one of the biggest factors in keeping me focused was the support of those on Facebook. Many people gave me advice and some told me to just ignore the number and focus on how I feel. I even got a "suck it up girl, this is part of your journey". You will never know how much it means to me knowing that people are out there cheering me on and wanting me to do well.

One big change that I have been adjusting to this week is the new Weight Watchers program. They changed the point system and this has been a little overwhelming for me. So far I have really liked Weight Watchers mostly because of the accountability and the group support. I will say there are some "crazies" in my group but that makes it a little entertaining. I hope the first week with the new program helps me reach my goal.

I really hope this week the scale is more friendly. I am not really sure what I did wrong last week. I do know that if this week is not successful, something will need to change.

Products that helped me this week

Tomorrow I weigh in...gosh I hope a lost something. I have really focused in on my diet this week and  I pray it will pay off. I cut out all "starchy" carbs and sugars. No bread, potatoes, beets, squash and no more then a serving of fruit a day. I will tell you though my energy and mood have been amazing. Even if I don't loose pounds (can't believe I am saying this) it has been worth it. I will keep you posted on my progress.

This cold weather makes me want to do 3 things:

1-Curl up and sit on the sofa with a cozy blanket and Christmas Vacation on the TV.
2- Bake...I do not want to do this when it is hot outside but the second it is below 65....Pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting is the only thing on my mind
3- Eat, Eat, and Eat!!! Stews, crusty sour dough bread, thick pizza, roasted marshmallows- God there is so much I love to eat once it is cold.

Well here are a few products that helped me get through this partially cold week. I am ALWAYS looking for new items to buy that others have tried and enjoyed. Give me your ideas, I need them.

Tofu "noodles". These are in the Tofu section. just make sure you rinse them really well before you use them.

Spring water- I really like the flavored kinds (lemon, lime and grapefruit). It keeps me full feeling and away from soda!

Herb Garden- I have this in my house (purchased it from Sams Club) and add the herbs to salad and sauces to give them more flavor. Low in sodium products can have zero taste, so fresh herb help.

Green Tea- I love green tea. I sware it makes me feel 110% better. I get mine from Starbucks. it has a minty flavor that is extremely refreshing. I finally learned how to order it- "Venti Iced Green tea with 1 splenda". It is sugar free and has zero calories. Some nutritionist (Dr. Oz) say that green tea helps speed up metabolism.

What products help you in your weight loss goals? Give me some ideas that will help keep me focused and if they work...I will give credit where credit is due!

Preperation

Preparation seems to be the key to attaining your weight loss goals. I have seen a trend in my failures and it was always brought on by lack of preparation on my part. Going out to eat, missing meals, having nothing in the fridge, and lack of planning my workouts have all been culprits. Here are a few things I have decided to do each week to make sure that these bad habits do not derail me from my goal!

We go out to eat at least 3 times a week. UGH!!! It is REALLY hard to know how many calories are in food that is made by others. And the places that do list calories...I think they lie. No one regulates them to make sure they are telling the truth. I have worked in the hospitality industry and I know those cooks are NOT measuring out how much butter they put on your veggies or cheese on your salad. I have decided to order everything as plain Jane as possible. If I order a salad (which I do most of the time) I am getting as much on the side as possible. That way I can see myself how much goes on. I am also going to  add 2 extra points (weight watchers) to the food I order. That way I will feel pretty sure that I am staying within my points.

I VOW to myself not to miss meals anymore. This week is going pretty good so far. I have decided that each week I will decide what I will have everyday for breakfast and lunch. Each week I will change it up. That way I don't stand in front of the fridge and think "what am I in the mood for"...mmm...grilled cheese and creamy tomato soup. I love to cook so I will cook a different dinner each night and this will help me from getting board with what I am eating. I also make sure I have most of my snacks prepared. I bought a Publix roasted chicken and de-boned and skinned it and put the chicken in the fridge. I also boiled eggs and pre-cut all my veggies. I need it to be easy or I will stray.

Exercise has always been a daily thought to me. This week I planned and wrote down what I will do each day of that week to get my exercise in. Fit camps (AAP), running, biking and yoga are all planned out this week. They are on the schedule and I cannot cancel those appointments. I really think this will help me keep, not only with my long term (month) goal but my short term daily goal.

Let me know some tips. Most of the people I know and I am friends with are really healthy and fit. I need your advice on preparation. I am working on all of this being second nature to me. I seem to always get health advice from the girl eating pizza at the mall or the guy shopping in the Big and Tall section. I need help from people who are living this life style and who are successful at it.

Thanks for your ideas!!!

This month's Shiny Thing

Fitness and nutrition have my attention currantly. I know I know, this should be a life long focus- and I hope that it will be. A challenge has been presented by AAP Fitness in Tampa Fl. From Nov 25th to Dec 25th we are to pick a goal and document it. My goal is to be my pre-pregnacy weight. This means I need to loose 8 pounds. Oooo Mama Mama...that is 8lbs during holiday season. This is a very aggressive goal. I have started weight watchers to help me with the nutrition and I have signed up for fit camps (outdoor circuit training) at AAP fitness.

I hope that this is just the beginning of my weight loss journey. I have lost 60lbs since Austin was born but it has been a slow process, almost a year and a half. I have never been a small girl but I think it would be pretty fun to walk into a store and find jeans in the single digits. You remember that store 5-7-9 where all the sizes were 5-7 or 9? Well, I never got to shop at that store. I was always looking for the store called 12-13-14.

Well, today I am choosing to look at myself in a different light. I will no longer  think of myself as the funny "fat" girl. I am going to start thinking of myself as the athlete. I believe if I start to think of myself as an athlete then I will act, eat and train like one.

What I need form you (if anyone is out there...)-

Cheer me on people- I need some support. A small pep talk or a "you go on with your bad self" goes a long way with me. It makes me accountable to not just myself but to my support system.

I will keep you posted on the ups and downs but I am focused, determined and ready to complete my mission... now I leave you to upload my Ipod with tunes from Rocky.
